– 제목: Sterile Neutrino Study in JSNS2

JSNS2 (J-PARC Sterile Neutrino Search at the J-PARC Spallation Neutron Source) experiment searches for neutrino oscillations from the light sterile neutrino using an intense neutrino beam from muon decay-at-rest (µDAR) using 3 GeV pulsed proton beam at the MLF (Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility), J-PARC. The experiment searches for muon antineutrino to electron antineutrino oscillations to detect the inverse beta decay signal and delayed gamma in a pre-defined time window in the Gd-loaded liquid scintillation detector. The detector has a fiducial volume of 17 tons and is located 24 meters away from the MLF’s mercury target. The JSNS2 result will directly test the LSND anomaly by replicating nearly identical conditions with a better signal-to-noise ratio. In June 2021, JSNS2 successfully finished the first long-term operation for half-year data, and the JSNS2 collaborator is preparing the second phase of the JSNS2 experiment (JSNS2-II) with the second detector with 35 tons of fiducial weight a 48 m baseline. Two detectors will improve the sensitivity of the search for sterile neutrinos, especially in the low delta m square region, an exciting region by the global fit of the appearance mode. In this talk, the current status of the experiment and the prospect of the JSNS2-II will be reported.
